Tonight, I watched the movie Fireproof. This movie.. wow. It was so powerful. Okay, so here is a brief synopsis. The movie begins with a young married couple, who are having marital problems. The couple decides they will get a divorce. So, the husband's (Caleb) dad comes over and challenges Caleb to take a "love dare". It is essentially a 40 day challenge to show his wife his love for her. The rest of the movie shows the journey of love that Caleb goes through both in his own life, and in his relationship with his wife. He makes a life changing decision to accept the Lord as his Savior, and his life really begins to change, and he is able to really love his wife, because he now understands what real love is. The most memorable scene in the movie for me, is when Caleb is talking with his dad at an old church campground. Caleb is crying out in frustration to his father that he just can't do it anymore, not when he pours out his love for his wife, and she continues to ignore him and ultimately reject him. He tells his dad that no one understands what he is going through... That is when Caleb's dad points to the cross that is standing on the campground, and says, "He understands"... or something along those lines.. How often do we as people, as Christians, reject God, turn our backs to Him, think we can do it on our own when He pours out His love to us, every second of everyday.
It really convicted me of how I am living my life... trying to do it on my own, not seeking Him. This movie opened my eyes and convicted me that in order to really love David, I must really have a love relationship with my Lord. Please pray for me that I will begin to seek out a church family, and rekindle my relationship with Jesus.

Amen! This movie was really good. I got it and the love dare devo for Gary for Valentine's day. shhh! :) And I'm so excited for how God used it in your life. That's really true- that without God's love we cannot love. It is quite motivating to run to God when we realize that, especially when we so cherish our spouses. I love you and will be praying for you. (I've been really sick with the flu and right now just felt tired of laying in bed- I will be praying for you!) :)
Kristen - join my church family! I am so encouraged by your experience and feel I MUST rent this movie. I have heard nothing but good things about it. Even though I am not married, or even dating, I cannot love those around me if I am not in love with the Lord whole-heartedly.
