Alzheimer's Awareness

I'm not sure if all of you know what I do everyday.. where I work.. what I do at work. But, I wanted to just give you a glimpse of what my job entails.I am the Helpline Coordinator at the Houston & Southeast Texas Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. We provide and enhance care and support by all those affected by Alzheimer's disease. We strive to eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research. We promote brain health to reduce the risk of dementia. My job is to answer our 24/7 Helpline (during business hours) and speak to family caregivers, persons with Alzheimer's disease or people who are concerned they or a family member may be showing the warning signs of Alzheimer's disease.I love my job. I get to help these people.. answer their questions, listen to their fears, their concerns and comfort them when they are feeling confused and helpless.Every year, we host several Memory Walks throughout our 37 county service area. It is our largest fundraiser and way to raise awareness for Alzheimer's disease and the Alzheimer's Association. This Saturday is the Houston Memory Walk. To date, we've raised $115,591. WOW! We need to raise more.. to fund research, to fund programs and services all to help families that are affected by this terrible disease.
Friday, I attended the International Quilt Festival to volunteer with the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative.
I purchased this quilt square there:

The artist of this quilt square stated,
"I was broken hearted when Mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. With time, the heart heals but the scars remain."
Alzheimer's disease is heart-breaking.
Would you consider making a donation today?
